Course Description:
EDEE 332\-003 Teaching Elementary Mathematics 2
The second of two courses specifically designed for elementary school pre\-service teachers. Provides opportunities for the development of increasingly sophisticated knowledge and practices specific to elementary mathematics teaching. Provides insight and understanding of the Quebec modern elementary mathematics program.
Term: Winter 2026

Schedule: Tuesday \& Thursday, 02:35 pm\-05:25 pm
Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education MA in a relevant field (ie. mathematics education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience
1\.Expert knowledge of: Elementary mathematics pedagogy in line with approaches outlined in National Council of Teaching Mathematics documents
Research on elementary mathematics pedagogy
Research on elementary students’ mathematical thinking and reasoning
2\.Highly proficient in oral and written French and English
3\.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in mathematics, science, or a related field in the Quebec educational system
4\.Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
5\.Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
Other Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate level
Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
Familiarity of and/or experience with practice\-based pedagogies in mathematics teacher education is an asset
Experience teaching in bilingual contexts
Other information: A commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date
