    Job purpose
    The HR Manager at Lahontan Golf Club will play a vital role in providing resources and support to all departments, focusing on employment, benefits administration, and California labor law compliance. This position will collaborate closely with the Safety Coordinator and the Accounting Department to ensure organizational compliance with state and federal employment laws while fostering a positive work environment. The HR Manager will exercise independent judgment and decision-making capabilities in managing HR policies, employee relations, and compliance matters.
    Duties and responsibilities
    HR Operations & Compliance:
    + Provide HR support to all departments regarding employment, benefits, and related areas.
    + Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of California labor laws relevant to the organization.
    + Exercise independent judgment in managing employee relations, compliance issues, and policy interpretation.
    + Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive personnel information.
    + Complete annual revisions of the employee handbook to ensure compliance with current laws.
    Employee Lifecycle Management:
    + Produce, distribute, and process hire, rehire, leave, and termination packets.
    + Maintain accurate personnel files and records in compliance with legal requirements.
    Recruitment & Onboarding:
    + Organize and initiate annual Job Fairs, including related advertisements for open positions.
    + Create job descriptions and define minimum and maximum wage scales for management and salaried roles.
    + Make independent decisions on candidate qualifications and hiring recommendations.
    Benefits Administration:
    + Organize and initiate the annual Employee Benefit Fair.
    + Administer employee benefits, including health, life, dental insurance, 401(K), COBRA, Paid Time Off (PTO), and related audits.
    + Assist department heads with timekeeping systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    Safety & Risk Management:
    + Support safety-related education and programs in alignment with California laws.
    + Provide workers compensation reports, calculations, and monitor active cases.
    + Complete annual workers' compensation audits and respond to governmental agency audits as needed.
    Employee Engagement:
    + Develop and implement employee incentive and appreciation programs.
    + Research and implement initiatives that enhance a positive work environment.
    + Use discretion and judgment in addressing employee concerns and recommending solutions.
    Compensation & Data Analysis:
    + Analyze wage and salary reports to develop competitive compensation plans.
    + Collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate payroll and benefit deductions (without directly handling payroll).
    + Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis for compensation and benefits.
    Qualifications
    Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
    preferred.
    At least 3+ years of HR Manager experience preferably in a California company.
    Strong knowledge of California labor laws and employment practices

    Experience with Paycom is highly desired.

    Working conditions/Physical Requirements
    Work Environment: This position operates in both an office environment and occasionally within the golf club facilities. The role may require walking through outdoor areas, including golf course grounds, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
    Physical Requirements: The role is primarily sedentary, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer, and operate standard office equipment. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs) may be required during events, meetings, or training sessions.
