    The Council of the Isles of Scilly want to grow our team with passionate and driven individuals and as such are looking to recruit a full time Strengthening families practitioner with a focus on SEND \& Inclusion.
    Strengthening families is at the heart of our team, supporting children with SEND and their families across the Isles of Scilly to fulfil their potential.
    This role will be based on the Isles of Scilly.
    The successful candidate will be required to develop outcome focussed high quality education, health and care plans for children with special needs, as well as:
    Work directly with children and families in order to meet need at the earliest opportunity, taking a strengths based approach
    Work collaboratively and respectfully with multiagency partners to meet the needs of children with special educational needs, being clear about lines of accountability and delivering services within the timescale that meets the child’s developmental milestones.
    Work in line with Children’s services practice standards, national policies and procedures to safeguard and protect children.
    Good record keeping with child centred language in accordance with our practice standards.
    Be creative and adaptable in the provision of services, which could include group work for children, young people and their families.
    Highly agile in style and approach, and able to flex to meet the needs of the service as required.

    This is a role which requires someone to be child focussed and passionate about our approach to strengthening families and communities and determined to make a difference to our small community. Therefore, you must:
    Have the ability listen to and communicate effectively with children, young people, families and professionals.
    Be organised and understand the need to meet deadlines.
    Be confident and positive in your approach, while keeping the interests of the child at heart
    Be able to receive feedback in order to continuously grow so you are your best self in order to meet children’s needs.
    Be an active and productive member of the team with initiative and energy.

    And ideally, would have:
    A level 5 qualification or equivalent experience in working with children and their families across various contexts.
    Knowledge of the SEND code of practice and the Children’s Act 2004 or be willing to learn quickly.
    Experience of working within children’s safeguarding and an understanding of what makes childhood inspiring.
    In children’s services we take seriously the privilege we have to work directly with children and their families therefore we respectfully require our team members to be able to write well, without jargon, and in the best interests of children. Our practice standards will help you to know what is required, however you must have a good level of literacy and a child focussed disposition.
