- SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for coordinating academic services for workforce readiness. The focus is the workforce pool of students who are preparing through higher education and shorter\-term trainings to meet the stateβs current and future employment needs, particularly employment needs in the Northern Oklahoma College service sector. This position plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring programs align with both student needs and industry demands. The position will be housed in Tonkawa but will have additional responsibility for providing support to all locations at which Northern courses are offered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Assess local workforce needs by engaging employers and utilizing labor market data, and collaborating with college and community partners to inform program development and training offerings. Serve as the institutionβs liaison for online and virtual tools for this unit including but not limited to: Handshake or similar software, economic indicator tool, Tutor.com or similar tool. Track virtual tool usage and on\-site tutoring, career or other software tool usage for monthly report outs. Coordinate on campus tutoring services or other similar services and resources.
Facilitate job placement and career development services for students and job seekers, including job\-search classes, labor market analysis, and referrals to supportive services
Build and maintain relationships with local business, and industry partners, and institutional division chairs serving as a resource to ensure program alignment with current workforce trends and employment requirements.
Coach and advise students who have not declared a major to help them align their personal, academic, and career goals, which can lead to the student choosing a major focus of study.
Assist in developing and coordinate academic internships and job shadowing opportunities by assisting faculty and students in making connections with workforce partners, reviewing student resumes, maintaining essential paperwork, and writing a press release to be sent out once the internship is completed.
Coordinate campus located Career Services opportunities for students each academic year such as resume review, mock interviews, and academic specific career fairs.
Schedule, promote, and coordinate annual advisory board meetings and report out.
Collaborate with academic division chairs, athletic coaches, and other leadership to develop additional academic services for workforce readiness as needed.
Coordinate and monitor articulation agreements and collaborative projects with high schools, other community colleges, vocational education providers and postsecondary institutions to support seamless educational pathways.
Analyze unit effectiveness and participantsβ outcomes, maintain accurate records, prepare required reports, and use feedback to make data\-driven improvements to training and workforce initiatives
Represent the college at meetings, conferences, and events to network, stay informed of industry trends, and serve as a workforce readiness advocate.
Develop and maintain job manual, documenting key processes.
Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Some travel required on occasion. Use of institutional vehicle fleet is available.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A minimum educational level of a bachelorβs degree is required; masterβs degree is preferred. Previous organizational experience in business, higher education or non\-profit organizations is essential.
