    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Reporting to the Director of the School of Nursing, the Simulation Facilitator provides
    professional and technical expertise, guidance, and advice on healthcare simulation to facilitate
    the delivery of health assessment and technical activities within the healthcare simulation lab,
    classroom and virtual learning environments. The incumbent will work at Carleton University,
    including our lab space in Kanata North, and Queensway Carleton Hospital.

    More specifically, the Simulation Facilitator:
    Develops content and experiments for lab courses under the direction of the Director and instructors of designated courses.
    Supervises all aspects of the laboratory, including implementation and adherence to all
    applicable safety regulations.
    Monitors the effectiveness of the laboratory exercises and assesses the need for changes in the laboratory course content; researches, identifies improvements, recommends changes, updates, or alternatives and tests them, in consultation with the instructors responsible for the courses and, to ensure adherence to program learning outcomes, the Director, or designate, and implements improvements and updates.
    Supports the application and development of knowledge, skills, judgement, and fosters the
    development of critical thinking and clinical judgement, in accordance with the College of
    Nurses of Ontario Practice Standards and related documents, University and program policies and procedures and other allied health professions as required.
    Supports interdisciplinary program development including recruitment, community outreach
    and/or sub streams of programming including but not limited to; certification, microcredentialling, or conference\-based education in coordination with the Director, and/or
    delegate.Qualifications:
    The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
    The position requires strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills, sound judgment, an understanding of nursing science, as well as relevant theoretical and applied knowledge in disciplines relevant to nursing science.
    Proficiency in the use of pertinent instruction, technical and administrative IT software is necessary.
    Skills and/or experience at supervising students is a must.
    Education and Experience:
    The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
    Completion of RPN is required, an RN will be considered an asset; equivalences will be considered.
    Advanced certification and/or training in medical simulation such as Canadian Certified Simulation Nurse Educator (CCSNE), Certified Simulation Healthcare Educator (CHSE) are considered assets.
    A current license with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing with no practice restrictions is preferred.
    BCLS required. ACLS, PALS and other advanced care certifications are considered assets.
    * Five years of medical simulation facilitation, design and/or development, including operational experience in budget.
