Responsibilities
  • Set up the work area, ensuring the drywall surface is clean and ready for finishing
  • Apply joint compound to the joints, corners, and screw/nail holes of drywall panels
  • Use drywall knives, trowels, or other finishing tools to smooth the applied compound
  • Embed drywall tape into the joint compound along seams
  • Sand the surface to smooth out rough areas between coats of joint compound
  • Apply finishing touches to create a flawless surface
  • Clean tools and dispose of debris or waste material
  • Work alongside other drywall installers, carpenters, and painters
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Taper in the ICI industry
  • Valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Strong knowledge and skills in drywall installation, taping, and finishing techniques
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade

    Ritewall Limited is a growing drywall company who specializes in institutional, commercial, and industrial (ICI) construction.
    We are currently seeking experienced Tapers to join our growing team working in Wellington, Guelph \& Dufferin County and surrounding areas, with some work in the GTA.
    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience and will possess strong skills in preparation of work areas, compound application, taping, and sanding.
    You will be required to have a valid G driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for transportation to various job sites. The successful candidate will join our professional team, ensuring the timely and high\-quality completion of drywall projects.
    Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
    Preparation: Set up the work area, ensuring the drywall surface is clean and ready for finishing. This may include cleaning, sanding, and ensuring proper drywall installation.
    Application of Joint Compound: Apply joint compound (mud) to the joints, corners, and screw/nail holes of drywall panels to cover seams and imperfections.
    Smoothing: Use drywall knives, trowels, or other finishing tools to smooth the applied compound and ensure an even surface.
    Taping: Embed drywall tape into the joint compound along seams to reinforce the joint and prevent cracking.
    Sanding and Smoothing: After each coat of joint compound has dried, sand the surface to smooth out rough areas and prepare for subsequent coats. Typically, multiple coats of compound are applied, with drying and sanding between each coat.
    Detail Work: Apply finishing touches, such as filling in minor holes, cracks, or imperfections, to create a flawless surface.
    Clean\-up: Clean tools and dispose of any debris or waste material in accordance with safety and environmental standards.
    Collaboration: Work alongside other drywall installers, carpenters, and painters to ensure that drywall finishing aligns with the overall project timelines and quality standards.
    Required Competencies and Attributes:
    Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Taper in the ICI industry.
    Valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle for transportation to job sites.
    Strong knowledge and skills in drywall installation, taping, and finishing techniques – including level 5 finishing.
    Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to the trade.
    Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
    Detail\-oriented with a focus on delivering high\-quality workmanship.
    Excellent problem\-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
    Strong teamwork and communication skills.
