Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Shift Supervisors, Team Leads and Program Managers on HR services, policies and employee relations matters
  • Create and implement strategies and policies that support the development, engagement, and retention of employees
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants
  • Monitor performance management process and provide coaching and support to Leaders
  • Ensure WCB injury claims are filed in accordance with guidelines
  • Facilitate modified or graduated return to work programs
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Support employee wellness through the implementation of wellness initiatives
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources or related area, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive broad experience in Human Resources
  • Experience interpreting and adhering to a Collective Agreement is preferred
  • Proof of COVID vaccination
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months

    Job Summary

    Supports the agency's goals in the recruitment and retention of committed engaged employees by performing HR functions in a positive, strength\-based manner.
    Responsibilities
    Provide coaching and guidance to Shift Supervisors, Team Leads and Program Managers on HR services, policies and employee relations matters
    In partnership with the Senior HR Director, create and implement strategies and policies that support the development, engagement, and retention of employees
    Monitor performance management process and provide coaching and support to Leaders
    Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for vacancies
    Improve manager and employee performance by supporting and guiding Managers and Team Leads in understanding and interpreting policies, legislation, and regulations
    Ensure WCB injury claims are filed in accordance with WCB guidelines and creating modified work plans as required
    Facilitate modified or graduated return to work programs, as required, to support employees returning from an injury or disability, whether workplace related or otherwise
    Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    Prepare disciplinary, employment, termination, and other documents as required
    Assist employees concerning the group benefit program
    Support employee wellness through implementation of wellness initiatives
    Prepares Statistics Canada Job Vacancy reports
    Maintains and updates employee files and Bamboo HR as required
    Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Post\-secondary degree in Human Resources or related area, or equivalent experience
    Minimum 3\+ years of progressive broad experience in Human Resources including Labour Relations, talent management, employee relations and WCB claims
    Experience interpreting and adhering to a Collective Agreement is preferred
    Solid understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of relevant Employment, Human Rights and OH\&S legislation
    Excellent communication, relationship\-building, and influencing skills
    Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
    Able to make sound judgments requiring confidentiality, tact and diplomacy within tight timelines
    Strong analytical, organizational and problem\-solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team in a fast\-paced environment
    Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office as well as HR databases
    Understanding and compassion for client services provided
    An understanding and commitment to the value and strength of teamwork

    Position Requirements:
    Proof of COVID vaccination
    Class 5 driver's license
    Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months, that does not contain any results material to the position
    FOIP Certification (provided at orientation)
    β€œIt’s your Move” training, or equivalent Ergonomics training (provided at orientation)
    Be able to attend meetings during the evening, early morning and weekends as required
