- About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and confident Senior Night Carer to join our dedicated care team in a Residential Care Home. This is a key leadership position, providing night\-time supervision, guidance, and support to care staff while ensuring our residents receive the highest quality of person\-centred care during the night.
As Senior Night Carer, you will lead by example on the floor, promoting best practices in care, medication administration, documentation, and safeguarding. Your leadership will help maintain a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for both residents and staff throughout the night shift.
Key Responsibilities
Provide hands\-on care and support to residents, ensuring their needs, wishes, and wellbeing are prioritised.
Supervise and lead night staff, ensuring high standards of care delivery and teamwork.
Deliver care in accordance with regulatory standards, policies, and care plans.
Support and induct new or junior staff, ensuring they feel safe, confident, and part of the team.
Monitor, review, and update care documentation and ensure all staff maintain accurate and timely records.
Oversee safe and competent administration of medication and maintain accurate MAR charts.
Ensure all personal care is provided with dignity, respect, and attention to residents’ preferences.
Participate in and lead the “Resident of the Day” review process and care plan updates.
Promote meaningful night\-time routines and ensure residents are comfortable and supported.
Take a proactive role in health and safety, reporting concerns, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe environment for residents and staff.
Contribute to staff meetings, HUDDLEs (flash meetings), and effective shift handovers.
Respond to and report incidents or concerns in line with safeguarding and company procedures.
Champion inclusion, equality, and dignity in all care practices.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working in a care setting, with leadership or senior carer responsibilities.
NVQ Level 3 in Health \& Social Care (or working towards it).
Strong understanding of person\-centred care and the importance of dignity, choice, and compassion.
Confident in supervising staff, administering medication, and maintaining care documentation.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Calm, kind, and professional approach – especially during challenging situations.
Willingness to work night shifts and contribute positively to the home’s overnight care culture.
