Responsibilities

- to implement our innovative hebrew curriculum and encourage participation in weekly school-wide prayer and music services/classes
- to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom dynamics
- to collaborate with the education director and other educators to design curriculum development strategies that enhance student learning outcomes
- to assess student performance regularly and adapt teaching methods accordingly to meet individual needs

Greenburgh Hebrew Center is seeking teachers for our Wednesday/Sunday religious school. We are a Conservative synagogue, hiring teachers from any Jewish denomination to teach 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students. Our school is a leader in exciting, experiential learning and creative curriculum that values relationships, cultural and spiritual development, and skills-building. Our students are involved in meaningful ways with the greater synagogue community and the wider world, through various projects throughout the year. Teachers collaborate on a wide variety of projects, and the rabbi, cantor, and education director are available to partner with teachers on special events or to help with ideas to enhance and envigorate our school.
Duties
To develop appropriate lesson plans to teach Jewish values, holidays, Torah, and tefillot.
To implement our innovative Hebrew curriculum and encourage participation in weekly school-wide prayer and music services/classes.
To communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom dynamics.
To collaborate with the Education Director and other educators to design curriculum development strategies that enhance student learning outcomes.
To assess student performance regularly and adapt teaching methods accordingly to meet individual needs.
Experience
Teaching experience in a camp, synagogue school, or day school setting.
Facility with Hebrew reading/writing and familiarity with prayer language (Shabbat, holiday, and day-to-day Hebrew).
Experience working with a variety of learning styles.
