Course Description:
EDEE 260\-003 Reading Methods Kindergarten/Elementary.
Methods and materials for the teaching of reading.
Term: Winter 2026
Course Credits: 3
Location: EDUC 129
Schedule: Monday, 05:35 pm\-08:25 pm
Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Education MA in a relevant field (i.e. Reading methodologies for elementary school\-aged children, science of reading)
PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
Experience
1\.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in reading methods and/or extensive relevant experience as an elementary school educator/pedagogue. Theory and practice of teaching reading in the k/elementary classrooms
Historical and contemporary issues affecting literacy/multi\-literacies teaching
Science of reading: reading process and applications to teaching and learning
QEP Language Arts curriculum across all cycles
Planning, teaching and evaluation of reading
Theory and practice for struggling readers
2\.Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system
3\.Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
4\.Familiarity with the professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
Other Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
Other information: Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting in advance of course start date
